last meals [Mar. 3rd, 2009|04:01 pm]
been reading this website all day. made me wonder what my last meal would be if i had to have one. came up with:

- fried jumbo shrimp w/ cocktail sauce
- tuna roll (w/ soy sauce and wasabi)
- in n out cheeseburger no onions
- in n out cheeseburger w/ grilled onions (actually just came up with in n out cheeseburger, but i think i would regret making a choice between onions and no onions, so why not get both?)
- one of those japanese salads (clarification: the one you get when your order comes with salad at a sushi restaurant, all with that dressing)
- fuji apple
- 6 pepsis
- like 10 of those ice cream cups you get at the grocery store that are either chocolate or strawberry

fun at Wordle.net. this is my final religion paper from last semester. the thing i liked about religion classes was they gave an opportunity to explore whatever deep stuff was on my mind, so this picture is like a snapshot of my head.

the lid burst [Dec. 9th, 2008|11:57 pm]
'Murderers': protesters' fury boils over as boy shot by police buried

Running battles between Greek police and thousands of protesters furious at the shooting of a 15-year-old student intensified yesterday as antagonism boiled over outside the cemetery where the youth was being buried.
--
"This is not just about the kid, it's about our dreadful education and economic situation. That's what pushed us on to the streets," insisted one youth who called himself Andreas. "It's our belief and hope that this is the beginning of a rebellion against the system."
--
"The police are pigs and they deserve what they get. They don't have the balls to go after the anarchists. Instead they pick on us kids, stop us in the streets all the time. It's wrong to smash up shops, but personally I see it as a symbolic act to throw stones and rocks at the police, because they're bastards."
--
Zoe Papanidou, 19, student "There were many reasons why these riots happened. The situation was explosive, socially and economically. The state undermines people. You feel it is violating your rights. At some point the lid was going to burst from the pot."

research mirroring my tshirt ideas [Nov. 23rd, 2008|06:48 pm]
"The evidence from the peak-experiences permits us to talk about the essential, the intrinsic, the basic, the most fundamental religious or transcendent experience as a totally private and personal one which can hardly be shared. As a consequence, all the paraphernalia of organized religion - buildings and specialized personnel, rituals, dogmas, ceremonials, and the like - are to the "peaker" secondary, peripheral, and of doubtful value in relation to the intrinsic and essential religious or transcendent experience. Perhaps they may even be very harmful in various ways.

From the point of view of the peak-experiencer, each person has his own private religion, which he develops out of his own private revelations in which are revealed to him his own private myths and symbols, rituals and ceremonials, which may be of the profoundest meaning to him personally and yet completely idiosyncratic, i.e., of no meaning to anyone else. But to say it even more simply, each "peaker" discovers, develops, and retains his own religion."
